Health Issues In Dogs and Puppies

Veterinarian With Dog

We are constantly getting families asking us about the most (common) general health issues in dogs and especially puppies. Keep in mind that below are just (common) general health issues in dogs and puppies that can occur, that does not mean they will. However, it is important understand that every breed of dog can be more prone to a certain types of health issue or disease. These are often called “breed specific health issues” For example: German Shephards can get hip dysplasia, Pugs can have eye problems, Siberian Huskys can be prone for autoimmune disorders, where Bulldogs are most likely to face upper respiratory issues etc…..Because puppies and dogs are living breathing animals, there is NO avoiding the reality that ALL animals will suffer various sickness, illness and injury throughout their life. Since there is no “crystal ball” that tells us which dog or puppy will face which aliment within their life, it’s important to be educated and informed so that you can watch for signs and symptoms if your pet begins to manifest health issues and therefore you will more likely be prepared to deal with them.
