A Few Quick Tips on How to Care for a Teacup Puppy?

Learning how to properly take care of your teacup puppy is REQUIREMENT to owning this delicate size. So do your research and learn as much as you can about owning a micro-tcup and teacup puppy or you could end up creating unnecessary health issues, early death and major heartbreak. Here are just a few basic things every teacup owner should know.

.

raw_dog_food_diet1[1] Diet and Nutrition is critical. Do NOT purchase low-end cheap food. Teacup puppies do NOT eat very much so what they do eat must be high quality and extremely nutritious because if the food is just a bunch of low grade ingredients and “fillers” you will create health issues, struggle with hypoglycemia, bad teeth, poor coat and even early death. We strongly recommend the food and vitamins shown below for maximum protection of your tiny puppy and to greatly reduce the chances of hypoglycemia.

83539[1]Make sure your home and environment is warm, cozy and comfortable for a teacup size puppy. You NEVER want to chill your teacup puppy. For example:  take your shoes and socks off and if your feet get cold then the temperature in the home is too cold and you are chilling your teacup puppy. Teacup puppies that get too cold start off with a runny nose or eyes, maybe a little sneezing which can quickly turn into an upper respiratory infection and/or pneumonia which can become deadly in a short amount of time. Have heated beds in the main rooms the puppy will be spending their time.  Do NOT put the teacup puppies crate, x-pen or play are where the air conditioner will blow on them.  If you put a heated bed in their “confined area” then you MUST make sure you buy the heated beds with the metal cords so they don’t chew on the cords and electrocute themselves when your not there to watch them. Because puppies DO chew, especially on cords.

heaterIf you have a certain area that your going to place your teacup puppy in while your gone (like the laundry room, or a section of the kitchen etc…) then a lot of teacup owners will buy an electric heater to keep that area snuggly warm. Remember, you do NOT want to put the heater where the teacup puppy can access the cord and chew it while your gone. Example: if you put up an x-pen for the puppy to play in and left him in there for a few hours you might have the electric heater nearby OUTSIDE of the x-pen so it keeps the puppies area warm but the puppy doesn’t have actual access to it.

il_570xN.435684175_mct4[1]Use a cat harness instead of a collar and put a bell on the harness so your entire family as well as guests that come over can hear where the puppy is at since puppies have gotten seriously injured by people accidentally tripping or stepping on them because they get under your feet and you can’t see them.  You can just “google” kitten collars or kitten harness with bells and tons of cute ones for sale will come up.

richelle exapndable playpenDo NOT “crate” a teacup puppy in a kennel that doesn’t allow you to be able to visually see the puppy clearly at all angles.  Make sure their kennel is the wire kind you can see through or get an x-pen or play area. They love those. We recommended the “Rachelle Expandable Playpen” or something similar.

1 nuvet kitten shampooThis is the BEST, safest, most gentle and tearless puppy shampoo ever! Just like human babies, puppies need special shampoo’s too. Most puppy shampoo’s are gentle but still recommended to NOT use until at 12 – 16 weeks or older. However, puppies often need to be bathed before then. This extremely  high quality gentle puppy shampoo is perfect newborns up to a year.  Just remember, bathing a puppy to much or using a low quality puppy or human shampoo can strip the natural, beneficial oils from their coat often leave dry flaky itchy skin or dry brittle hair with poor looking coats. And please, do NOT use (human) baby shampoo. Puppies have a different pH balance.  Start your puppies out right by protecting their coats while also keeping them squeaky clean! to order – click here

1 All the Snuggle Puppies

Teacup puppies have a real hard (emotional) time leaving their mom and litter mates. These transitions puppies are PERFECT for teacup puppies because they have a REAL heart-beat inside them and warmers which makes the puppy feel like it has a”littermate” with them! Because they bring down the stress levels in a puppy it reduces the risk of the puppy getting Cocciddia and even helps with stopping them from crying or howling in the kennel. These are NOT toys but instead mimic a “live” buddy for your pup. Definitely a Must have for sure.  to order – click here
